Homeowners insurance rates have risen sharply in states like Florida and California for years. Now, the affordability crisis is spreading across the country. Nationwide, home insurance rates rose nearly 47% from 2020 through 2025, according to LendingTree’s 2026 State of Home Insurance report. In the hardest-hit states, the 2025 jump was about three times the national average. Colorado saw rates jump 18.3%, while Minnesota and Iowa were close behind at 17% and 14.7%, respectively.
